| Sept: Wine Walk & Shop
Downtown Chelan's 1st Annual Wine Walk & Shop
(During Rhythms on the Lake):
A Successful "Walk" in Many Ways

A BIG thank you and a ringing toast to the dozens of volunteers (Gerry Ustanik and Jennie Simpson shown top left) who sacificed their time on a gorgeous fall afternoon in Chelan! And of course, thank you to all the wineries and business locations!
HDCA Manager, Doug Sandvick, commented: I knew this was going to be fun when I volunteered to pour wine at one of the 8 downtown loctions, but I never expected how much work it would be. I was really tired after an afternoon of pouring. My hat's off to the pros who do this every day at the wineries! Also, another job well done on "Rhythms On The Lake" by Mike Steele and all of his chamber staff and volunteers. The fun never seems to end in Chelan with our great tourism partnerships.
Mike Steele could not give an exact number at 4 PM on Saturday of punch cards that had been purchased for Downtown Chelan's Wine Walk & Shop, but he was smiling!
Even though the Beebe Bridge remained closed over this last weekend, that did not stop some of our guests from making it to the Wine Walk & Shop from the east side. While their husbands golfed at Desert Canyon, two "Fair Ladies from Bellingham" (shown in top-far right picture at Bear Foods with Rich Nestor of Chelan Estate Winery) decided to join all the fun at Downtown Chelan’s Wine Walk & Shop.
To their disappointment after making the drive from Orondo, they discovered that the bridge was closed. A testament to their determination, they traversed the stricken bridge on foot and decided to walk to Chelan rather than make the long drive back on 97 to 97A. Quick thinking, an I-Phone, and Chelan Cab saved them that hard hike up the Hwy 150 hill. Good choice ladies! They saved their strength for an afternoon of strolling along the wine walk route that took them to eight different downtown businesses:
Columbia Furniture, Main Street Gallery, Willow, Company 107, Lake Chelan Sports, Bear Foods, Culinary Apple, and Lulu Boutique
Where they sampled wines from 12 area wineries:
Chelan Estate Winery, Tildio Winery, KarMa Vineyards, Hard Row to Hoe Vineyards, Benson Vineyards, Lake Chelan Winery, Wapato Point Cellars, Vin du Lac Winery, Nefarious Cellars, Tunnel Hill Winery, Rio Vista Wines, and Tsillan Cellars.
The "Fair Ladies of Bellingham" above love Chelan and praised our Wine Walk as the best they ever have attended: “Most Wine Walks are Wine Waits, waiting in line at outside tents...waiting and waiting for your pour.” The ladies enjoyed actually walking and getting to experience our unique shops, marvelous shop owners, and fabulous area wines!
