Design Committee 2010 Work Plan:

Goal:  Provide a clean, inviting, and safe district that capitalize on our historic features.

Objectives:

1.      Educate community members and business and property owners about the historic architectural character of downtown Chelan.

·         Develop a plaque program.

2.      Encourage appropriate building rehabs

·         Develop design recommendations for building owners/tenants, detailing desired façade improvements, color schemes, signage, etc that are in keeping with the historical elements of Chelan.  Include a maintenance section.

·         Provide business owners a list of resources that will help create inviting store and window displays.

·         Develop an annual award for “Best Visual Improvement”.

3.      Improve and maintain pedestrian connections and amenities.

·         Continue partnership with the city and the Master Plan to include new signage, benches, informational kiosks, garbage containers and recycling bins.  Include the painting of street lamps and existing benches. 

·         Flower Baskets

·         Christmas Lighting yearly installation, maintenance, and financing.

4.      Raise community awareness to HDCA

·         Develop new logo

·         Develop rack card

·         Revamp existing web site for clarity
