The Director of the HDCA – Jessie Simmons

Hi, I’m Jessie, the Executive Director of the Historic Downtown Chelan Association.

My husband, Allan, and I were both born and raised in Chelan. After high school, we went to WSU and I earned a degree in Psychology and a degree in Journalism. After graduating from WSU in 2007, my husband and I moved to Portland. For the next eight years, I worked in various roles within a crazy, but awesome advertising agency called Wieden+Kennedy. I spent time in account management, PR and recruiting and worked with clients such as Nike, Coca-Cola, Old Spice, Dodge/Chrysler and more. I loved my time at W+K, but my husband and I always knew we ultimately wanted to move home, and given my roots in downtown Chelan, the job with the HDCA provided a perfect opportunity to do so.

Over the last ten years, my husband and I took notice of changes we saw in the downtown area. It seemed like our downtown had a new little facelift each time we returned. We noticed the hanging flower baskets, we noticed spruced up storefronts, we noticed new benches, we noticed cool new things happening downtown! It has become a downtown that we are even more excited to bring friends to visit, and I am excited to be back in town in a role that will allow me to work with downtown businesses, other organizations and our volunteers to help continue that progress!

The Program and Event Coordinator

Hello, I am Jennifer, the Program and Event Coordinator.  Originally born in Renton, WA my family relocated to Olympia, WA when I was very young so I consider myself an original Olympian.  I have two children – Brandon, who still resides in Olympia and Sarah, who lives in Glacier, WA along with her husband Paul and my grandson Russell.

I have 13 years of service with Thurston County where I had the opportunity to serve in a few different roles that provided me experience and knowledge in accounting, election administration, human resources and wellness committee administration.  Upon my completion of my Human Resources Management Certification at Pierce College, I went on to accept the role of Human Resources Manager with Taylor Shellfish in Shelton, WA.  There I developed and implemented employee and management training, programs and events, and also policies and procedures.

I had the opportunity to vacation with my family in Chelan for several years.  I am excited and looking forward to getting started developing and implementing programs and events for this lovely historic town of Chelan.
